Sensei Brett Mayfield, US Director of IMAF, 6th Dan Karatedo, 4th Dan Judo, 6th Dan Hakko Ryu Jujutsu, 6th Dan Aikido.
Sensei Mayfield is the USA Branch Director of the International Martial Arts Federation (IMAF), one of the pre-eminent Martial arts organizations of Japan and one of the very few empowered by the Japanese government to award titles. Most of the great martial artists of Japan are members of this organization. Through his connection with IMAF, Sensei Mayfield has had the opportunity to train with many of the highest ranked Japanese martial artists, and counts Prof. Shizuyu Sato (Director of IMAF, Hanshi, 10th dan jujutsu, 9th dan judo), Sensei Tadanori Nobetsu (9th dan Goju-ryu), Sensei Kazuo Sakai (9th dan, Wado-ryu), and Sensei Ikuo Higuchi (9th dan Shoto-ryu) among his direct teachers. Sensei Mayfield also has ranks in several arts from many other organizations in the US and elsewhere.
Sensei Mayfield has been teaching martial arts in the Upper Valley for 20 years, and has many black belt level students whom he can call on to assist him. He also teaches Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture at the Green Mountain School of Acupuncture and Holistic Medicine in Hartford, Vermont (http://www.greenmountaininstitute.com/).
The USA Headquarters Dojo (school) of the IMAF is located 8 miles from campus in Hartford, Vermont. Daily classes are taught not only in Karatedo, but also in Judo, Iaido, Jujutsu, and Aikido as well.
